Experience in Puncak Perdana.
Initially when I first received an offer letter to pursue my bachelor degree in Selangor, I was so excited that I will fly to peninsular and stay there for at least two years. The reaction and response from my family were excited and happy especially my mother but at the same time, worry was there because I will leave my memory in Kuching and stay elsewhere away from my family. My first year in UiTM Puncak Perdana was exciting when I am not really dwell in my comfort zone. I learnt to travel by public bus after more than 20 years since my last ride with public bus. I learnt the culture, delicacies, language and many more. Having so many friends from different campuses and states all over Malaysia in Puncak Perdana has made my university life at that time a memorable one. I was active back then. I joint student society such as Sekretariat Mahasiswa Fakulti (SMF) during my second year of university life. By joining student society like this, I can actually rebuild my leadership and social skills after my leadership era in UiTM Sarawak last time. In UiTM Sarawak, I hold General Secretary or so-called Setiausaha Agung in Majlis Perwakilan Pelajar (MPP) 2010/11. It was good to flash back the good old times with other delegates during my campus life in Puncak Perdana. I was never stayed outside or so-called Non-Resident before this. I challenged myself to rent a house outside and learn to be independent. Who says men cannot cook? That is my specialty anyway. When I stay outside, I can perform my hobby that is cooking. Plus much, I like outdoor activities and traveling. During my campus life, I have travelled a lot all over Malaysia, in Peninsular to be exact by joining university’s activity to Gua Tempurung in Perak. I have been to Endau-Rompin for a leadership course conducted by SMF at that time. I had so much fun there and expanding my social circle. Being surrounded with wonderful people and positive vibes around me during my undergraduate study are my remedy and endorphin. To be exact, one should have something that can flaunt the xfactor in his life and kick start a new life event every day. As for me, I believe that my university life during my undergraduate endeavor is fascinating, mesmerizing, full with ups and downs of course that eventually lead to my graduation. Everyone else has their own journey. Some of my friends got married and gave birth to a twin baby girl and that was during my final year of study. One of my lecturers asked, “Who wants to pursue his or her master?” and nobody put up their hand, but deep in my heart core, I have my very own plan for the rest of the year ahead. September 2013 marked my new postgraduate journey where I never thought of pursuing my master. It is because of this one ambition that is to become a lecturer that makes my way that time. I envy my friends who at that time got a good job, getting married, and enjoy their life out there while me, contemplating on my life journey to become one that is yet unseen but again, I believe each and every one of us has our own good time. God granted my prayer and in January 2014, I was offered a job as a teacher in one of a private school in Kelana Jaya. That was a step ahead of my beautiful career since January 2014 but I managed to hang on until June 2014 of teaching when I was offered another job endeavor of which I am currently in now, to be part of Regalian’s clan – Regalia Records Management Sdn Bhd. That was when I first started my very own hashtag ‘TheExecutiveDiary’ that reminisced to my new career in the industry. That was during my final year of master. Envisage of my career and academic, I thought that I never completed both things in one time and luckily; I managed to complete my master on time while working in January 2015. My academic journey does not end there. I leveraged on a very large scale to complete the last quadrant of my academic journey by attempting to go for PhD. My first quadrant was diploma, second quadrant was my bachelor degree, and the third quadrant was my master and the last quadrant, my PhD. I worked on my research proposal, called for an interview in the faculty and here I am, in my second master of PhD journey with my new instagram’s hashtag ‘PhDJourney’ and ‘PhDAwesome’. Not to brag but for me, those words are my source of inspiration not to take things easily or for granted. The journey to be awesome is not easy but not impossible to achieve when there is a will; there will be always a way to achieve your dream. I live with positive words whenever I feel down, depress or getting tired of life. I look back to my history and of course, I never want the ‘black parade’ to be happened again. My PhD journey is estimated to complete in 2018 and I will be 28 years old at that time. Getting the title ‘Dr’ is something major for me in academic as I could not make it as a medical doctor last time (joke).
Current endeavor:
Pursuing my PhD and working at the same time. Both endeavors are full time basis.
Advice:
Always honor your parents, live as servants of God and be kind to people. Those are perfect words to live a good happy life. Before attempt to do something, think twice and observe the consequences from different edge of perspective. Plus, when there is hatred towards someone, calm down, relax and think the good deeds that he or she has done to you back then. Always grab the opportunity and when it meant to be yours, there is no way for others to get it. Last but not least, stay blessed and stay cool!
